Sanctuary Service (Sunday 11:00)

Many of us who grew up in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are most familiar with this style of worship. It is more "liturgical" than the other services.

The clergy wear robes. The full Chancel Choir sings every Sunday. And, as everyone knows, Lindenwood is blessed with the greatest choir and most excellent music of any church in the United States ... and probably the world. Due to Gary Beard’s and Chris Nemec's incredible talents the music is more blended ... ranging from Gospel and Spirituals to Sacred Classics, and usually includes various instrumental accompaniment appropriate for the day’s music.

With the tall ceiling and stained-glass windows, the atmosphere is most holy and spiritual. Worshippers are asked to enter the Sanctuary quietly, as many like to come early and pray prior to the beginning of the service.

The magnificence of Lindenwood’s organ (The Golightly Memorial Pipe Organ) ... and our two gifted organists ... definitely enhance the classic spiritual atmosphere of this service. The 11:00 service also has a "Lay Leader" who assists with the leading of worship each week.
