Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis is embarking this fall on
its largest endeavor in building a 38-home planned community of
“green” houses in the Oakhaven Neighborhood, just south of
Memphis International Airport.
The Outreach Ministry Team is
exploring the possibility of Lindenwood’s participation in the
project. There will be a brief informational meeting on Sunday,
July 25th at 12 noon in the Library. All interested Lindenwood
members and friends are invited. You don’t have to have a lot
of building skills, just be over 16 and willing to enjoy a couple
of days of good work and fellowship! For more information or
to express your interest, please let Johnny Wray know. Thanks!

Lindenwood is going back to school!
Lindenwood is revitalizing
its Adopt-a-School partnership with Shannon Elementary School.
With classes resuming August 9, now is the right time; and with
98% of its students from economically disadvantaged households,
Shannon is the right place.
Currently, our Adopt-a-School task force needs your help to
provide new or slightly used uniforms and school back packs
with grade appropriate supplies. Details on the uniforms (colors
and sizes) and school supplies for grades K-5 are available from
the church office and are listed on the church website.
From tutoring students to providing holiday baskets to sponsoring
teacher appreciation week, Lindenwood members and friends
will have numerous opportunities over the course of the school
year to support students, teachers and staff at Shannon.
For more information, download our flyer.
If you’re
interested, please be in touch with Johnny Wray.
A special to thanks to Lindenwood’s Vacation Bible School for
giving their VBS mission offering to the Adopt-a-School effort. VBS
kids raised more than $500!

| Food for thought
Give up one fast food or restaurant lunch per week during Lent and give the money you save to our Food for Families ministry.
This is the SAMSAL (Skip a Meal, Save a Life) program that you are familiar with, revamped for Lent.
One low to medium priced fast food meal per week (approx. $7) for the 7 weeks of Lent is only $49. If 99 people participate we will have all we need to finish the year of food packing ministry. Consider this for your physical health, spiritual health, and for the good you can do by this simple act.
|
| Neighborhood Garden
While church members and friends were able to get the MIFA garden "raised bedready" and MIFA secured a good number of neighborhood folks to sign on as participants, MIFA has not been able to secure a master gardener or garden intern to oversee the project. The Outreach Ministry Team is grateful to Nancy Evans for her willingness to step in at this late date and salvage the summer growing season and plan for a fall season. Thank you, Nancy.
Nancy will be working at the garden site Saturday a.m. from 8-10 a.m. and could use a few volunteers. The site is on Estival Pl just off East, between CrumpBlvd and Vance. You can contact Nancy at
dirtq76@yahoo.com
|
| Meals on WheelsThe Lindenwood Meals-on-Wheels route we maintain for MIFA is in need of several volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to take a route (one day a month) delivering meals to those in need, contact Mary Anna Williamson at maryanna1@bellsouth.net.
