Lindenwood tackles another Habitat project this year

Habitat for Humanity envisions "A world where everyone has a decent place to live."

Helping bring that vision is close to reality will be the goal of Lindenwood's Fall project to help build a house for a local family.  Building a house is a key project pursued this year by Outreach Ministry Tream.

"We had such success and enthusiasm last year when we tackled a Habitat House, so we decided we would do another this year, and stretch how much we would try to accomplish, " said Rev. Sarah Taylor-Peck.

The congregation will be gathering volunteers who want to wield a hammer, climb a ladder, saw a board or carry a box of shingles.  Before that time comes, the entire congregation will be offered the opportunity to give a donation to help pay for part of the work.

For example:

   *   A construction nail costs .50 cents on a Habitat job

   *   Shingles are $1 a piece

   *   A gallon of paint is $10

   *   To purchase a bathroom cabinet, someone could give $40

   *   A pallet of sod can be provided for a gift of $10

   *   Or one HVAC costs $500

   *   One window (each house gets six) can be bought for $50

Contributions to the Habitat fund can be made by writing a check to Lindenwood Christian Church and writing "Habitat project" on the check's memo line.

The congregation raised nearly $10,000 in 2011!
