Food for Families
Lindenwood’s Food for Families Ministry (formerly Food Packers) provided more than 2000 bags (and sometimes boxes) of food for Mid-south families in 2009.
Food for Families prepares food packages on the 4th Wednesday of each month. For more information, contact Mimi Salazar
Each bag costs only $4 to fill and represents one week when a family doesn’t have to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities, rent, or other necessities. Lindenwood obtains non-perishable, nutritious items for the Food for Families Ministry from the Mid-South Food Bank. In less than two hours, volunteers break down a mountain of cases of cans and boxes and fill bags to overflowing, while sharing laughter, stories, and box cutters. In an inter-denominational partnership, Catholic Charities (Church of the Holy Names) picks up the bags and distributes them to needy families.
